Pak Lah said he will step down in March, and in the intervening 5 months, he wants to do these 5 things.
> ESTABLISHING the Judicial Appointments Commission to enhance the stature of the judiciary;
> ESTABLISHING the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission with greater powers of investigation and enforcement;
> ESTABLISHING the Special Complaints Commission to enhance the integrity and effectiveness of enforcement agencies;
> STRENGTHENING and enlarging the Social Safety Net to ensure aid to all, regardless of race and religion; and
> HOLDING a Barisan Nasional convention to improve inter-racial and inter-religious relations.
Much-needed attention to be paid to these areas. But hey, if he had put his ears to the ground when he took office, he wouldn’t even have to leave in this ignominous manner.
Furthermore, he’s leaving leaders in the hands of Najib who has issues of his own.
Is five months enough to Pak Lah to set these 5 things in motion? I don’t think so.
That he is being kicked out is just because Umno lost its dominance in the Malaysian political stage.
But mayhem would surely follow, now. Najib must not think that Pak Lah’s departure makes things easy for him. In fact the spotlight will shine even brighter on that receding pate.
Rosmah should not planning that party just yet…methinks.
